A love in verse

The Waters of Love

When we talk of serious things

And you are fond with word and touch

A mighty pleasure through me sings

And racks me for I love so much

I want to kiss you, hug to death

The love so takes away my breath.

I always knew that for me strain

Of all kinds must so overpower

So be avoided – now the pain

Of too much tenderness that you shower

Is nearly more than I can bear

But – hey, I’ll stand it! This love we share

So keep on raining – get me wet

With happiness and I’ll splash back

With equal force and more, to get

Smiles on your face – I seem to lack

Maybe some power of joy and love?

Sometimes the water’s gone above

My head but I’ll come up, my love.

Sonnet: That Evil Elf

Frustration dogs my days. There’s not one thing

That I would do that does not stand in doubt.

As if some grinning demon cast a ring...

By the Aegean

Three boats ride at anchor in the calm night

Warning lights winking without respite

And the far headlands to left and right...
