A love in verse

No Affront

There’s a word which to be blunt

Means love to me – but others hunt

A chaster word to bear the brunt

Of utmost tendresse; I confront

It gladly when you yell (not grunt!)

This epithet, take no affront.

Words like ‘darling’ which you must

Throw at me still are nice but shunt

Them all aside, this is no stunt,

The word is right there in the front

The others sigh and EXEUNT

Evening Reverie

Your garden – I can hardly see

Under this glooming summer – dusk sky

The stalwart gnomes peer out at me...

Lights

Lights everywhere – long lights along a road.

Gold globes around a common estate

Small lights in high rise flats....
