No Affront

There’s a word which to be blunt

Means love to me – but others hunt

A chaster word to bear the brunt

Of utmost tendresse; I confront

Words like ‘darling’ which you must

Throw at me still are nice but shunt

Them all aside, this is no stunt,

The word is right there in the front

The others sigh and EXEUNT

Summer’s hiding over there –

Behind the hill, but in your eyes

I see the summer’s dreamy skies...
