A love in verse

Present Imperfect

I hope that you will fall in love again

With someone I will introduce you to

Don’t worry – you’ll have no cause to complain

Somebody different – nicer – someone new.

He wouldn’t have to hide away and write

Daft verses about what he should say plain

Nor cry about separation in the night –

Such thoughts he wouldn’t even entertain.

I hope you meet him soon and your heart melts

On meeting: but, dear, here’s a catch you see;

This lovely fellow isn’t someone else

But just myself as I would like to be.

My love, it’s true you might have quite a wait.

Be patient with your present, imperfect mate.

Acceptance

For every joy there comes a pain;

To know you’s joy – and your demise?

The thrilling kiss, the soul that cries…
