The soft late sun outlines the trees
Before its setting threads the sky
With cloud and gleam then going frees...
We’ll see the pains grow less
The rough skin disappear once more
Till, free and fit, you may address...
Years ago I used to feel
Cut off from the human race
Defiant though, I’d say “The deal
Is this – ...
That in the silence we once met
When hearts don’t speak or even see
Is strange – remember on the set...
A surly sod never content
Well almost never sad to say
Not that strife is his intent...
There is a lady I hold dear
So much in my heart she stars
Angel’s eyes survey me clear...
Say it’s sunny say it ain’t
Say the rain falls or it doesn’t
Say I’ve health – or a complaint...
When we talk of serious things
And you are fond with word and touch
A mighty pleasure through me sings...
Tomorrow came and went
The future slipped away
I spent my time intent...
These autumn days I’m chuffed inside
No chat about the ‘dying year’
Just how glad I am I’m here...
